To be recognized as a provider of relevant professional education to your colleagues:

 

  1. Be familiar with the curriculum so you understand the needs of the different departments.
  2. Find out who the person(s) responsible for district professional development is and
  3. Offer to talk to the staff about the resources available, how to integrate the available technological resources into lesson planning, how to design projects that promote the development of critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills through inquiry and research, ways to promote an appreciation of reading, etc.
  4. Be a member of the district professional development committee if possible.
  5. When you present workshops, collect evaluations from attendees that you can use to improve your presentations and provide testimonials if needed.
