*Some of the ways your students and teachers will be affected by the cuts to funding for Statewide Library Services include:
- the loss of EBSCO databases (quality online resources, available 24/7) that would cost your school thousands of dollars if you had to purchase them, and for which most districts will not have the money, since they have lost some or all of their state aid as well
- the loss of interlibrary loan and delivery services for resource sharing (obtaining multiple copies of books for discussions and special events will no longer be possible, obtaining materials on topics that are not within the most commonly covered subjects in your curriculum for students who wish to learn about topics in more depth or beyond the scope of what is covered in school)
- your local public library will be less able to supply the summer reading needs of the students due to loss of 50% of their per capita funding
- there may be fewer after school and summer activities and less programming for students due to loss of funding
- In some cases, students who do not have computers or Internet access at home my find that it becomes harder to get their assignments done if the library is forced to reduce hours - and in some towns, libraries may lose their Internet access
